Bhutanese, through several traditions and beliefs, revere their ancestors, rulers, and deities. Done in contemporary art form, Raven Deity is based on a legend that monk Jarog Dongchen through worshiping, became a Raven who is now protecting Bhutan. Remembering Ancestors is based on Tsa-Tsas (Stupas made from clay) placed in the mountain crevices, worshipped by the people on death anniversaries to respect their ancestors. In some paintings on YUPO paper, I have painted imaginary landscapes of Bhutan using sponge rollers.
