The Artist

1946 born– Vijay, a self-taught artist, is emerging on the scene of Contemporary Art. Delhi’s sprawling gardens, trees, and flowers have dominant influence in his paintings. An IIT engineer, a corporate CEO working for over 4 decades, he commenced his painting career late in life. His energy comes from his optimism and love for nature, and art in all its forms. His paintings reflect his personality having good combination of the left and the right side of the brain, through detail oriented subtle and vibrant colors. Vijay primarily does watercolors. He loves this medium the most and describes it as a spiritual medium. His works portray stories/philosophies/thoughts, involving strong imaginary compositions, and a bit of surrealism. The inspiration comes from literature, nature study, religion, and worldwide travels. His paintings are soft, serene, and vibrant. Admirers of his works describe these as “Happy Paintings”. When not painting, Vijay loves to play the piano, sing, and do birding.
